Fear of uncertainty comes up time and time again with my clients, and of course for me in my life.
Quick insight that may be helpful if you are open to hearing it:
There is no certainty in anything. Anything can happen. Certainty is not real. We make it up according to what we choose to believe.
This is so strong it has us stay in painful situations that we know are not serving us.
Question: How many times do things actually turn out the way you planned anyway?
I’m all for a vision but I never have a clue how I’m going to get there.
Because so often we insist on ‘knowing’ we don’t start. We don’t start because we don’t know what it will look like.
But It’s near on impossible to know.
I had this reflected back to me big time recently by a client who turned the tables on me to help coach me with my business (with permission!).
It’s so funny when I look at it. I spend my life living with uncertainty in some areas that would freak most people out i.e what country shall we live in, where will our current home be, how will be educate the kids, no fixed income, and the list goes on.
But when it came to doing something differently around a certain part of my business I became paralysed by not being sure of the outcome and was I willing to take that risk.
The truth is, we create everything moment by moment by moment. And we all have an exceptional internal guidance system that, if we give it space by not over thinking everything, will guide us towards our highest good.
Our job is to get out of the way and let the overthinking pass without feeding it with energy, allowing new thoughts and ideas to come through.
Time for me to apply this to my business, not just my lifestyle – as I’m pretty damn good at being guided in that aspect.
What are you not doing because of uncertainty and not knowing the outcome?
